Stormzy (@Stormzy1), Krept & Konan (@KreptAndKonan), Kano, (@TheRealKano), Skepta (@Skepta) & Tinie Tempah (@TinieTempah) Nominated For ‘Best International Act (UK)’ At The BET Awards 2016
It’s that time of year again! BET have announced the nominees for their BET Awards 2016, which will air live in US on Sunday, June 26.
Our focus is of course Grime and UK Hip-Hop, and we can confirm that last year’s winner of the ‘Best International Act (UK), Stormzy, has been nominated again in the same category for a second year. Giving the Wicked Skengman a run for his money are nominees and past winners; Kano, (2007), Tinie Tempah (2011), Krept And Konan (2014), Grime veteran Skepta, and representing for the ladies, Lianna La Havas.
Its’ been a good 12 months for Grime and UK Rap with the success of big releases from; Krept and Konan, Kano, and Skepta who all have albums that went into the top 10 of the UK Official Albums Chart, and Stormzy with his BPI gold-certified hit ‘Shut Up’ going Top 10 in the Official UK Singles Chart.
All of the artist mentioned above are worthy nominees, however; seeing as all of the MCs nominated have won previously except Skepta, who is arguably having the best year of his career, with his album, ‘Konnichiwa’ setting a record being the highest-charting Grime album in history, it’s likely he will be the winner of this year’s award. Tune in on Sunday, June 26 to find out whether our predictions were right .
We would like to take this opportunity wish all the nominees the best of luck.
