DJ Logan Sama (@djlogansama) accepts ‘Outstanding Contribution To Music’ Award on behalf of Skepta (@Skepta) At AIM Independent Music Awards 2015
Last night, Tuesday, September 8, a host of personalities from the music industry gathered at The Brewery, in east London for the fifth annual AIM Independent Music Awards.
The AIM Awards were set up in 2010 to give recognition to independent musicians, labels, and industry figures. The nominations were announced in August with a few select awards being announced at the same time. One of the recipients was Boy Better Know’s, Skepta who was honoured with the ‘Outstanding Contribution To Music ‘Award.

Unfortunately, the current ambassador of Grime‘ was unable too attend the ceremony to receive his award, so KeepinItGrimy, founder, DJ Logan Sama graciously stepped up to accept the award presented by fellow DJ, BBC 1Xtra’s Mistajam on Skepta‘s behalf.
Although there were a number of nominees from the world of UK Hip-Hop and Grime up for awards, the only other winner on the night was, Scottish alternative-Hip-Hop band, Young Fathers, who scooped the ‘Difficult Second album’ award for ‘ White Men Are Black Men Too’.
The lack of awards for Grime and UK-Hip-Hop, was made up for with a performance from South London’s Stormzy.
