Akala (@AkalaMusic) to release graphic novel ‘The Ruins Of Empires’
North London rapper /activist Akala has been busy of late, carrying out the duties of his Hip-Hop Shakespeare workshop, along with his work as an activist. Most recently, Akala along with other campaigners, lead a protest against the Barbican’s decision facilitate the ‘Human Zoo’ exhibition, and were instrumental in the Barbican’s decision not to go ahead with it.
Adding a string to his bow, Akala is now an author, and will be releasing his first published literary work, ‘Ruins Of Empires’ next month.
‘The Ruins Of Empires’– an epic poem is a graphic novel featuring illustrations by Tokio Aoyama (who produced the artwork for my Akala‘s latest album “The Thieves Banquet”). A story that follows ‘The Knowledge Seeker’ through the course of human history, via astral travel and multiple re-incarnations, in an attempt to discover the causes of the rise and fall of empires. It is inspired by the French author C.F. Volney‘s book of the same name.
