North west London MC, Nines has great cause for celebration as his highly-anticipated third studio-album,‘Crabs In A Bucket’ has entered The UK Official Albums Chart at number 1 this week.
The album follows a 2 year hiatus in which the Ice City affliate parted ways with XL Recordings to sign a new deal with Warner Records. Released on Friday, August 28, 2020, ‘Crabs In A Bucket’ had a strong initial 3 days of streaming driven by eager fans whose praise of the album on social media helped to push the album to number 3 on The Official Midweeks Album Chart.
The strong streaming performance kicked Nines into promo mode taking to social media to make the announcement that ‘Crabs In A Bucket’ had gone to number 3 in the mid-weeks, and to launch his #Nina4Number1 campaign in the aim of to galvanising fans to stream and buy the album.
The Official UK Albums Chart was published today (Friday, September 4, 2020) at 6:00pm which revealed that Nines‘s #Nina4Number1 efforts had yield the desired results for ‘Crabs In A Bucket’ , causing it jump two places up the chart to take the number one spot, beating off competition from Gregory Porter’s All Rise and Metallica’s S&M2.
Taking a moment to speak on his sucess Nines said: “Thanks to everyone that put me in this position, I still can’t believe I’m Number 1 – Finally won a golden boot!”
‘Crabs In A Bucket’ which features heavy-hitters such as; NSG, Louis Rei, Haille, Nafe Smallz, Skrapz, and more, is Nines’ first number 1 album surpassing the success of his previous albums, One Foot Out that went to number 4 back in 2017, and his second LP Crop Circle which equalled its position at number 4 in 2018.
Nines puts himself in and amongst a small group of UK MCs who’ve had number one albums which includes: Tinie Tempah, Dizzee Rascal, Stormzy, Dave and J Hus.
This is another great milestone for UK Rap, further proving that the genre isn’t going anywhere and you don’t have change your style to be a success.
