Drill Artist Unknown T Charded With Murder
East London Drill artist rapper Unknown T has been charged with murder in relation to stabbng resulting in the death of a 20-year-old man.
The homerton -based rapper real Daniel Lena, 19, a rising star in UK Drill , a genre which is and off-shoot of a style of Hip-Hop with origins in Chicago , is schedule to appear before magistrates later this week to face the charge of murdering Steven Narvaez-Jara, 20, on New Year’s Day last year.
On the early hours of January 1st, 2018, Police attended an address in central London at around 2.30am where they found Steven, from Kent, suffering from stab wounds.
Lena, is to face second charge of violent disorder a the court hearing the same date. according to reports the charges state that he: ”used or threatened unlawful violence when present together with others being three or more persons in total”.
It is reported that they ‘used or threatened unlawful violence’ to put a person to fear for their safety. Two other men; Mohammed Musse and Ramani Boreland, both 20 will be charged alongside Mr Lena, however Mr Musse is not charged for the murder, but faces a violent disorder charge.
Police have stated that Mr Lena was arrested on the day of the murder while his co-defendants were arrested “in the days after”. All three men were bailed prior to being released under investigation in November last year, and were charged earlier this month by postal requisition, a summons in the form of a letter received in the post that requires a person to attend court on a given date and time to answer a charge or series of charges.
Mr Lena rose prominance as the rapper Unknown T following his first official single “Homerton B” which reach number 48 on the UK Singles Chart in October 2018. The track has gone on to make history selling over 200,000 units in the UK, becoming the first UK Drill track to go silver. ‘Homerton B’ was initially released the track without a label, but was subsequently signed by Universal Music Group.
The rapper is due to perform at Wireless Festival next year, according to the events website, and recently teamed up with AJ Tracey for the single “Leave Dat Trap”.
A Scotland Yard spokesman stated: “Detectives investigating the murder of 20-year-old Steven Narvaez-Jara on New Year’s Day 2018 have charged three people.
“Steven, from Belvedere Kent, was found suffering from stab injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Another 20-year-old man at the scene who was also found with stab injuries was taken to hospital and subsequently recovered.”
continuing he said: “Police remain keen to hear from anyone who can assist their investigation.”
Mr Lena, Mr Musse, and Mr Boreland, all from Hackney, east London, are due to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court later this week.
