South London Grime MC On Possible Ed Sheeran collaboration, his ‘Gang Signs Prayer’ Album & Proudest Career Moment
South London Grime MC, Stormzy is gearing up to release his highly-anticipated debut album, ‘Gang Signs and Prayer’.
Now fully in promotional mode he attended the Elle Style Awards where he was interviewed on the red carpet. When asked by journalist Lucy Jones reporting for ODE: “what is it about him that’s been able to get grime on the map?” Stormzy remained humble as ever and responded by saying;” I don’t think it’s just me, it’s a team effort, everyone in the UK has come together, and put their foot on the gas” he continued, “No one is compromising any more, no one is settling, It’s a team effort, I’m just a small part of it”.
When asked about a possible collaboration with man of the moment, Ed Sheeran, Stormzy replied gleefully; “Ah that would be incredible, one day hopefully”. Primed by the journalist as to whether he would like to send Ed a little message he said: “Hit me up, I’m ready when ever he is”.
The conversation moved on to the topic of his album,‘Gang Signs And Prayer’, and why Skepta wasn’t not on his album. Quick to put to bed any notion of friction between the two he explained: “It’s all love, I just locked myself away for the album, when comes to features everyone is just a phone call away”.
Reflecting on his proudest moment to date he confessed: “My first MOBO Award, that meant a lot to me, it was a special moment”. Looking smart decked-out in a Hugo Boss suit it appears the wicked Skengman was ready for an enjoyable evening ahead at Elle Awards, unfortunately the following morning wasn’t too great, as police broke down his front door claiming they believe he was a burgular.
Stormzy‘s debut album, ‘Gang Signs And Prayer’ is out on Friday February 24.
