Giggs (@OfficialGiggs) – ‘Landlord’ Enters The Official UK Albums Chart At No. #2
Sn1’s Giggs has catapulted himself back to the forefront of the UK scene, with his highly-anticipated fourth studio-album,‘Landlord’ entering the UK official albums chart at No #2.
Released on Friday, August 5, 2016, ‘Landlord’ shot up the iTunes albums chart to take the No. #2 spot, simultaneously taking the No #1 on the iTunes hip-hop/rap chart by default.
The official midweek chart was published on Monday, August 8, 2016 which showed that, ‘Landlord had gone to No. #2, giving a strong indication, that the album could enter the chart in the Top 10.
The official UK albums chart for the week commencing August 12, 2016 was published earlier today (Friday, August 12, 2016), revealing that ‘Landlord’ was able to hold off competition from its nearest competitor to secure the No #2 spot.
‘Landlord’ is Giggs‘ highest-charting album, and first top 10, surpassing his previous album, ‘When Will It Stop’, which went to No#. 21 in 2013. The south Londoner also has the joint highest-charting Grime / UK Hip-Hop album of 2016 so far, matching the chart position of Grime veteran, Skepta’s latest album, ‘Konnichiwa’, which entered the Chart on the May 13, 2016.
This is a massive achievement for Giggs, who has been independent for a number of years, and has had to struggle throughout his career with police shutting down his shows, and trying to persuade various parties not to do business with him.
Giggs kept busy over the last few years killing feature verses, and although had expressed at one point that he was not focusing on making an album, he has made the right decision to release ‘Landlord’ now. UK Hip-Hop and Grime are experiencing probably their best period in history with a number of top artist releasing albums this year, and making an impact in the charts.
