South London Rapper Lowkey Returns With New Track and Scheduled Mini- Tour

BRITHOPTV: [News] Lowkey Return: Rapper To Drop New Track and Embark On Mini-Tour | #URap #UKHipHop MusicNews

When Lowkey left the rap game at the height of his career four years ago, following the release of his critically-acclaimed album, ‘Soundtrack To The The Struggle’,  he left a gaping hole in the UK Hip-Hop.

Wanting to take some time for himself,  the then 26-year-old, real name Kareem Dennis decided to leave music to pursue education, and become more devoted to his faith. Announcing his departure On 17 April 2012, via Facebook to his 180,000 followers he said: “step away from music and concentrate on my studies”

While this was the official statement, many believe the underlying reason was that his activism against Britain & USA’s foreign policy led to scrutiny of Lowkey‘s music, speeches,  and alleged harrassment from the authorities, who were rumoured to have  raided his place of residence removing any documentation containing a Arabic writing.

After four years  of keeping his head down, we can now confirm that Lowkey will be resurfacing and dropping a video for his track, ‘Ahmed’  today Wednesday, July 27, 2016 on Global Faction, and  follow that with a mini UK tour starting in September. (See dates here )

Tweeting about his return friend and fellow MC, Akala said:

So much has happened over the last four years, with Grime & UK Hip-Hop finding its feet,  experiencing its best period in history. The current political climate,  recent with police killings and issues around immigration and terrorism at all over the news, now is the  definitely the right time for a Lowkey return.
