Link Up TV (@LinkUpTV) Signs Deal With Relentless Records (@RelentlessRecs) / Sony Music UK (@SonyMusicUK)
Link Up TV have announced via social media that they have struck a deal with Relentless Records / Sony Music. We do not have any specific details at this time, but we believe it is likely to be some kind of partnership deal, in which Link Up TV will act as a source for talent that can be funneled through the Sony Music Group.
This deal appears similar to the partnership that was forged between SBTV and Sony/RCA a while back which resulted in east London Grime MC, Maxsta being signed to a deal. Unfortunately, the venture didn’t yield the success that many may have expected, and Maxsta was released from his deal, with the venture apparently being put on hold, although Jamal Edwards MBE has hinted that he still has plans for SBTV Music.

Relentless Records were instrumental in bringing UK Garage / Grime in the nineties and early noughties into the mainstream signing acts and records from artist such as; Artful Dodger ‘Rewind (Boo Selector) Ft. Craig David’, So Solid Crew, Daniel Beddingfield, K2 Family, and Lethal Bizzle’s ‘Pow! (Foward)’. With Grime currently enjoying a resurgence with the chart successes of Stormzy and Skepta it seems that Relentless wish to pick up where they left off, and are positioning themselves as the brand to bring the modern sound of Britian’s streets to the mainstream once again.
This partnership makes sense, as much has changed since the early successes of Relentless with the internet and social media, which allowed for the rise of media channels like Link UP TV, which in some ways filled the void that was left after the labels lost interest in the urban scene during the mid-noughties.
Link Up TV founded by Rashid Kasirye has been at the heart of the UK Urban scene pushing out content daily from established, and up and coming artist since it’s inception in 20o8. With a YouTube subscriber base of 387,941, and 377,571,723 channel views, Link Up TV are well placed for this deal.
We look forward to seeing to what this next step for Link Up TV will produce, this partnership if done right, could play an important role in taking Grime and UK-Hip-Hop to the next level.
Congratulations Link Up TV
