Dizzee Rascal (@DizzeeRascal) I Believe Ali G Character Was Based Off Tim Westwood [@VladTV]

Dizzee Rascal has focused on using his UK accent in his music, despite some overseas rappers adopting an American accent in their songs. The “Bassline Junkie” rapper explained that while he respects and looks up to a lot of American artists, he also looked up to artists that were from his area in London, leading him to focus on his UK accent.

During the conversation Dizzee was asked about his thoughts on Iggy Azalea rapping in a southern American accent, which he said makes sense considering that Iggy spent a lot of time around T.I. during the start of her career. He also touched on famed radio host Tim Westwood adopting mannerisms from Funkmaster Flex. You can hear more of what Dizzee had to say, including how he believes Sacha Baron Cohen’s Ali G character was based on Tim Westwood, in the above clip.
