Stormzy (@Stormzy1) – ‘Shut Up’ Goes Gold

In January of this year, we reported that South  London  MC,  Stormzy’s freestyle turn single ‘Shut Up’ had reached BPI Silver certified status following a massive xmas campaign which pushed it to No #8 in the UK singles Chart.

We can now confirm that ‘Shut Up’  has been officially certified gold by BPI with the equivalent of400,000 units sold. The BPI took to social media to announce the news  as can be seen below:

Stormzy expressed his gratitude and tweeted: “400,000 fucking records sold. Thank you for all your support my people, overwhelmed. ❤️”

He then followed up the initial tweet with another reflecting on how he just went to the park to do a simple freestyle, which has resulted in the equivalent sales of 400,000 units, which he credits to his God for making the unthinkable possible.

Stormzy is taking Grime to new heights  and  has a number of “first Grime MC to..” achievements to his name. There’s not much left  for Stormzy to do at this stage of his career, apart from topping the chart with his highly-anticipated  forthcoming debut album.

To give his fans a taster of what to expect, Stormzy dropped his latest track/ video, ‘Scary’, which after a two weeks has accumulated a massive 2.5 million views.

Congratulations Stormzy!
