The ‘Godfather’ named after the title Wiley had bestowed upon him as a pioneer in the genre, will be his ninth studio album, and follows the release of, ‘Snakes And Ladders’ which came out in November 2014. Receiving some what of a mild reception, Wiley expressed during an interview with on BBC 1 Xtra, that he would not be recording and releasing another full length album, as he believed the music consumption had changed.
Grime is currently having its best period since its inception, but is also noted for not having enough big album releases. It appears the self-proclaimed, “Wickest MC Alive”, has had a change of heart, and will give the fans and the scene what it deserves.
With his’Lord Of Mics’ rival, Kano releasing his critically-acclaimed album, ‘Made In The Manor’ this month, fellow Boy Better Know MC, Skepta announcing that ‘Konnichiwa’ is almost complete, and with Stormzy letting every one know “Album Time” is his focus, it looks like 2016 may be the year of the grime album.
