Yungen (@yungenPlaydirty) Inks Deal with Sony/RCA
South London rapper, Yungen has taken to social media to announce that he has signed his first major record label deal with Sony/ RCA.
Yungen had a great 2014, releasing the mixtape, ‘Project Black & Red’, which went to No #1 on iTunes/Rap Chart and N0 #52 in UK Albums Chart independently, making it one of highest-charting UK Rap projects of last year.
The success of ‘Project Black & Red’, and the critical acclaim of his single ‘Ain’t On Nuttin Feat. Sneakbo’, which has just over 1.7 million YouTube views, got the Play Dirty rhymer a nomination for, ‘Best Newcomer’ at the MOBO Awards, which took place last night.
Although he didn’t win on the night, missing out to fellow South Londoners, Section Boyz, Yungen has won the opportunity to take his music to the next level with his new deal. The exact details of the deal are not known at this current time, but will be revealed in due course.
The success of his Play Dirty affiliates Krept And Konan, and the likes of Stormzy, who both won two MOBO Awards last night, has filled labels with the confidence, to invest in UK Hip-Hop again. We will keep you updated on the latest information in regards to this story.
Congratulations to Yungen!
