The  US rap star showed his appreciation for the support with the words: “Thank You Skepta“, which had the mainstream public asking “Who is Skepta?”

In the midst of  subsequent discussions and articles on Grime‘s resurgence,  and whether UK artist need validation  for Americans, Skepta premiered ‘Shutdown’ unexpectedly which sent the internet into a frenzy,  receiving and 141, 812 listens on Soundcloud in 10 hours .   The video dropped on the same day as the release of the single , and after a week  has currently hit 704, 622 views  on YouTube.  It’s definitely Skepta’s time and the release of his forthcoming album, ‘Konnichiwa’ is eagerly awaited.
