@Meridian_Dan’s ‘ #GermanWhip’ No. #13 & No. #7 on the UK Singles & Dance Singles Chart

The biggest tune on the underground at the moment, Meridian Dan’s ‘German Whip Featuring Big H & JME’,  makes it debut in the UK official singles chart, and Dance singles chart at No. #13 &  No. #7 respectively.

Officially released last Sunday ( April, 13) at midnight, the Heavy Trackerz-produced ode to Deutsch engineering, quickly made it’s way up the iTunes download chart, reaching the No. #10 spot after just after and hour or so,  and by approximately 4:00am, had peaked at No #5, with the ‘GermanWhip Remixes EP’, hitting No. #43.

The initial rate at which ‘German Whip’ sped up the the iTunes download chart, was most probably due to the large number of pre-sales that it had racked up throughout the long promotional period that kicked in at midnight.

Mid-Week

The mid-week charts are released to music industry insiders on  Wednesdays, and at the time of its release ‘German Whip’  had only dropped one place, and was sitting pretty at No. #6 .

This was great news and would help create even more excitement around the track, and encourage those who hadn’t yet supported it to do so. There was the feeling that as the week progressed towards the weekend that would struggle to maintain its position, but we were remaining hopeful.

Then at approximately around 5:50pm yesterday (April, 20) The Official Chart Company confirmed via twitter that ‘German Whip’ had entered the chart at No. #13.

Congratulations to Meridian Dan and the PMR Records team! We think this is a great achievement for track which essentially is a underground anthem that grew organically picking up momentum. In all honesty we would’ve loved it to have gone Top 10 because we feel it deserves,  but considering the competition from big artists, and those with major backing, we are satisfisfied with this position.

We’ve have been following the ascent of  ‘#GermanWhip’ for a while, and have reported on the Poster campaign hitting the streets, original video reaching one million, two million, and Two and a half million views on youtube, Tinie Tempah bringing Meridian Dan out on stage to perform ‘#GermanWhip’ at the O2 arena, Meridian Dan getting a Vevo account for the Official video, the all star ‘#GermanWhip’ remix featuring Skepta, Professor Green, Bossman Birdie,  and Rizzle Kicks,  as well as Meridian Dan interviews and other footage.
