The excitement and anticipation for grime MC Ghetts’ first official album ‘Rebel With A Cause’ #RWAC had been steadily building up, leading to its release at 12:00 am March 9. Ghetts has been relentless with the promotion for the album, doing performances up and down the country at I luv live, and even doing a special listening and Q& A session, chaired by Radio One DJ Charlie Sloth that was streamed live on YouTube (See below).

 

Approximately an hour after the album went on sale at midnight (1:00AM), Twitter was buzzing when fellow Movement member, Wretch 32, announced that ‘Rebel With A Cause’ #RWAC had hit number #No 12 on iTunes UK album chart.

At the speed at which it had got to this position, it was safe to assume that the album would climb further up the chart, and as of time of writing this article ‘Rebel With A Cause’ #RWAC had peaked at #No.3 on the iTunes UK album chart.! (Note: Since original draft off this article was written ‘Rebel With A Cause’ #RWAC has dropped one place down to ‘#No.4 on the iTunes UK album Chart)

Renowned British MC Ghetts is set to release new album ‘Rebel With a Cause’ on 9 March 2014, via independent label Disrupt. In anticipation of the release next week, Ghetts will premier the album exclusively in partnership with the Roundhouse and GRM Daily on 6 March.

The intimate listening and interview session will be chaired by DJ Charlie Sloth who, alongside his own interview, will take questions from a small audience and social media. Fans can ask questions by including #RWAC in their tweets. Ghetts will unveil 8 album tracks via audio, video and live session footage including Rude Boy, Gas Mark 9 ft. Giggs, What I’ve Done, Pray and Fatherhood.

The live stream is an extension of Ghetts’ affiliation with the Roundhouses’ OnTrack music production, DJ and performance project. It engages with 16-25 year olds to create original music which is then performed live at a music gig as part of CircusFest 2014 at the Roundhouse. On Thursday 3rd April, Ghetts will headline a show at Roundhouse, performing alongside the OnTrack project participants — the OnTrack Collective, and Funk Da Cirque. The night will see brand new collaborations between street circus artists, DJs, MCs, remixers and the very best emerging artists in the scene today.
